Palencia
Palencia is a city on the Carrión river in Castile and León, northern Spain, capital of the province of the same name. It succeeded the Vaccaean and Roman town of Pallantia and was restored as a bishopric in the 11th century. Around 1208 it received the first university of the Iberian peninsula, and its Gothic cathedral is known as 'the unknown beauty'.
