Paolo Uccello

1397–1475 · 15th century

Paolo Uccello (1397–1475) was a Florentine painter known for his fascination with linear perspective. His works include the painted equestrian monument to John Hawkwood in Florence Cathedral of 1436 and the three panels of the Battle of San Romano, now divided between London, Florence and Paris, in which foreshortened figures and broken lances show his experiments with depth.
