Paolo Veronese

1528–1588 · 16th century

Paolo Veronese was a painter from Verona who worked mainly in Venice, known for his huge, brightly coloured feasts and allegories. His works include The Wedding at Cana and the ceilings of the Doge's Palace. In 1573 he was questioned by the Inquisition over a Last Supper filled with secular figures and retitled it The Feast in the House of Levi.
