Pax Britannica
Pax Britannica refers to the period of relative peace among the great powers from 1815 to the early twentieth century, during which Britain was the leading global power. It rested on the dominance of the Royal Navy, maintained on the principle of being equal to any two foreign navies combined. This naval supremacy allowed the British Empire to protect its trade routes and project force worldwide.
