Pax Julia

Also known as Pax Iulia

Pax Julia was a Roman town in southern Lusitania, on the site of modern Beja in Portugal's Alentejo region. Founded as a colony in the time of Julius Caesar or Augustus, it became the seat of one of the province's judicial districts (conventus). Remains of its temple and walls survive, and the town lived on as Beja under the Visigoths and the Moors.
