Penkovka culture

The Penkovka culture is an early Slavic archaeological culture of the 6th and 7th centuries, found in the forest-steppe of Ukraine and Moldova, between the Dniester and the Dnieper and beyond. Its small settlements of sunken huts, hand-made pottery and metalwork are usually identified with the Antes known from Byzantine writers. It is named after a site near the village of Penkivka in central Ukraine.
