Dnieper

The Dnieper is a major river of Eastern Europe, flowing through present-day Russia, Belarus and Ukraine to the Black Sea. It was a central route of trade linking Scandinavia and the Rus' to Byzantium. The growth of Rus' power along the Dnieper contributed to the decline of the Khazar Khaganate.
