Podlachia
Podlasie is a historical region in north-eastern Poland, centred on Białystok and bordering Belarus. It formed part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania until the Union of Lublin in 1569 transferred it to the Crown of Poland. Its mixed Polish, Belarusian, Lithuanian, Jewish and Tatar population made it a meeting point of Catholic and Orthodox traditions.
