Polykleitos the Younger

4th century BCE · 4th century BCE · Also known as Polyclitus the Younger

Polykleitos the Younger was a Greek architect and sculptor of the 4th century BCE, probably a member of the family of the famous sculptor Polykleitos of Argos. The traveller Pausanias attributes to him the theatre and the round building, the tholos, at the sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus. The theatre is admired for its acoustics and proportions and is still used for performances.
