Argolid

Also known as Argolis

The Argolid is the plain and peninsula in the north-eastern Peloponnese of Greece around the Gulf of Argolis. In the Bronze Age it held the Mycenaean centres of Mycenae and Tiryns, and in classical times the cities of Argos, Epidaurus, Troezen and Hermione. It is today the regional unit of Argolis, with its capital at Nafplio.
