Porfiriato
The Porfiriato was the period of Porfirio Díaz's rule in Mexico, from 1876 to 1911, with an interval from 1880 to 1884. It brought political stability, foreign investment, railways, mining and export agriculture, but also rigged elections, repression and the concentration of land in large estates. Its inequalities helped spark the Mexican Revolution.
