Protectorate General to Pacify the East
The Protectorate General to Pacify the East was set up by Tang China at Pyongyang in 668, after the fall of Goguryeo, to rule the conquered lands of Goguryeo and Baekje. Its existence led to the Silla–Tang War, and in 676 the Tang moved it to Liaodong in Manchuria. It was later reduced in status and eventually abolished in the eighth century.
