Province of Hohenzollern

1850–1945 · 19th century · Also known as Hohenzollern Lands, Hohenzollernsche Lande

The Province of Hohenzollern, officially the Hohenzollern Lands, was a Prussian territory in southern Germany formed in 1850 from the principalities of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, whose princes had ceded them to King Frederick William IV. An exclave surrounded by Württemberg and Baden, it was governed from Sigmaringen. After 1945 it became part of Württemberg-Hohenzollern and in 1952 of Baden-Württemberg.
