Radnorshire
Radnorshire is a historic county of mid Wales, created in 1536 under the Laws in Wales Acts from marcher lordships between the upper Wye and the Severn valleys. It included the old districts of Gwrtheyrnion, Maelienydd and Elfael, with towns such as Rhayader, Presteigne and Llandrindod Wells. Thinly populated and given to hill farming, it was merged into Powys in 1974.
