Red Ruthenia
Red Ruthenia is a historical region around Lviv and Przemyśl, in what is now south-eastern Poland and western Ukraine. Once part of Kievan Rus' and then of the principality of Galicia–Volhynia, it was conquered by Casimir III the Great of Poland from 1340 and became the Ruthenian Voivodeship of the Polish crown. After 1772 it formed the core of the Austrian province of Galicia.
