Mieszko II Lambert

c. 990–1034 · 11th century · Also known as Mieszko II

Mieszko II Lambert was King of Poland from 1025 to 1031 and again ruled from 1032 until his death in 1034, son of Bolesław I the Brave. His reign saw attacks by the Holy Roman Empire and Kievan Rus, revolts by his brothers, the loss of Lusatia and the royal crown, and the collapse of royal authority. After his death a pagan reaction and a Bohemian invasion devastated the country.
