Republic of Turkey
The Republic of Turkey is the modern state founded in Anatolia after the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire following the First World War. Established under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, it replaced the sultanate and caliphate with a secular, nationalist republic centred on Ankara. It marks the end point of the Ottoman Empire's decline and the successor state of its Anatolian core.
