Retogenes

fl. 133 BCE · 2nd century BCE · Also known as Retogenes Caraunius

Retogenes, called Caraunius, was a nobleman of Numantia in Hispania during the Roman siege of 134–133 BCE. According to Appian, he slipped through Scipio Aemilianus's siege lines with a few companions to seek help from neighbouring Arevacan towns. Only the young men of Lutia responded, and Scipio crushed them, leaving Numantia to starve.
