c. 126–73 BCE · 1st century BCE

Quintus Sertorius was a Roman general of the Marian faction who, after Sulla's victory, made Hispania his base. With Lusitanian and Celtiberian allies he defeated the Senate's commanders Metellus Pius and Pompey for years, setting up his own senate and a school for Iberian nobles at Osca. He was murdered by his officer Perperna around 73 BCE.
