Ridda Wars

632–633 CE · 7th century

The Ridda Wars, or Wars of Apostasy, were a series of campaigns fought in 632–633 CE by the first caliph, Abu Bakr, against Arabian tribes that broke away after the death of the Prophet Muhammad. Many tribes rallied around rival prophetic claimants such as Musaylima and Sajah. Accounts of the Rashidun Caliphate describe how Abu Bakr divided his forces into eleven corps and reunified Arabia, preparing the ground for the great conquests.
