River Oykel

The River Oykel is a river of the northern Scottish Highlands, rising near Ben More Assynt and flowing east to the Kyle of Sutherland and the Dornoch Firth. For much of its course it forms the boundary between the historic counties of Sutherland and Ross-shire, and it is noted for its salmon fishing. Ptolemy's Smertae probably lived in the valleys of its upper course.
