Rötteln Castle

Also known as Rötteln

Rötteln Castle is a large castle ruin above Lörrach in south-western Baden-Württemberg. It passed in 1315 to the margraves of Hachberg-Sausenberg, who made it their residence, and later to the margraves of Baden. French troops destroyed it in 1678 during the Franco-Dutch War, and it is now one of the largest castle ruins in south-west Germany.
