Roxburgh Castle

Roxburgh Castle was a royal castle in the Scottish Borders, on a ridge between the Tweed and the Teviot near Kelso, beside the medieval royal burgh of Roxburgh. It was one of the castles surrendered to England by the Treaty of Falaise in 1174 and was held by the English for long periods during the Wars of Independence. James II was killed besieging it in 1460, and the Scots then destroyed it.
