Royal Commentaries of the Incas

1609 · 17th century · Also known as Comentarios Reales de los Incas

The Comentarios Reales de los Incas is a history of the Inca Empire by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, the son of a Spanish conquistador and an Inca noblewoman, published in Lisbon in 1609, with a second part on the conquest in 1617. Drawing on his childhood in Cusco and on Spanish chroniclers, it shaped European views of the Incas for centuries.
