Royal Yugoslav Army

1918–1945 · 20th century

The Royal Yugoslav Army was the army of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, later Yugoslavia, from 1918 to 1945. Built on the Serbian army that had fought in the First World War, it had a mainly Serbian officer corps. Poorly equipped and spread along long frontiers, it collapsed within days of the Axis invasion of April 1941 and surrendered on 17 April.
