Russkaya Pravda

11th–12th century · 11th century

The Russkaya Pravda was the law code of Kievan Rus', whose earliest part is attributed to Yaroslav the Wise in the early 11th century, with additions by his sons and later by Vladimir Monomakh. It limited blood feud, set fines for injuries and killings according to social rank, and dealt with property, debt and inheritance. It survives in short and expanded versions and shaped later East Slavic law.
