Saint Padarn

6th century · 6th century · Also known as Paternus of Llanbadarn

Saint Padarn, in Latin Paternus, was a 6th-century Welsh saint, traditionally a bishop and the founder of the monastery of Llanbadarn Fawr near Aberystwyth. Llanbadarn became one of the leading churches of medieval Wales and the seat of an early bishopric. His later Latin Life links him with Saints David and Teilo, and several Welsh churches are dedicated to him.
