Sandro Botticelli
Sandro Botticelli (c. 1445–1510) was a Florentine painter of the early Renaissance, closely associated with the circle of Lorenzo de' Medici. His mythological paintings The Birth of Venus and Primavera, along with altarpieces and frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, made him one of the most celebrated artists of his time. In later life he came under the influence of Savonarola, and his reputation faded until its revival in the nineteenth century.
