Person
Selyf ap Cynan
Selyf ap Cynan was a king of Powys in the early 7th century, known in Welsh tradition as Selyf Sarffgadau, 'the serpent of battles'. He was killed fighting Æthelfrith of Northumbria at the Battle of Chester around 615, where, according to Bede, the English also slaughtered many monks of Bangor-on-Dee who had come to pray for the British army.
