Sena, Mozambique
Sena is a town on the south bank of the Zambezi in central Mozambique. Already a trading post of Swahili merchants, it was occupied by the Portuguese in the 1530s and became, with Tete upriver, one of their main bases in the interior, trading with the Mutapa state and the Barwe kingdom and serving as a centre of the prazo estates. A railway bridge across the Zambezi there was opened in 1935.
