Seuthes II

fl. c. 405–c. 387 BCE · 4th century BCE

Seuthes II was an Odrysian Thracian ruler who held the lands near the Propontis in the late fifth and early fourth centuries BCE, while Medocus ruled the interior. In 400–399 BCE he hired the survivors of the Ten Thousand, as Xenophon, their commander, describes in the Anabasis, to subdue tribes in south-eastern Thrace. He later allied with Athens through Thrasybulus.
