Seuthes I

fl. 424–c. 410 BCE · 5th century BCE

Seuthes I was king of the Odrysian Thracians from 424 BCE, succeeding his uncle Sitalces. Thucydides records that under him the yearly tribute from the Thracian tribes and the Greek cities reached about 400 talents of gold and silver, with gifts of equal value, the height of Odrysian wealth. He married Stratonice, sister of Perdiccas II of Macedon.
