Hermes
Hermes was a Greek god, son of Zeus and Maia, the messenger of the gods and the guide of souls to the underworld. He protected travellers, herdsmen, merchants and thieves, and was shown with a winged hat or sandals and a herald's staff. The Romans identified him with Mercury. Herodotus reported that Thracian kings honoured a god he called Hermes as their ancestor.
