Hesiod
Hesiod was a Greek poet of around 700 BCE who lived at Ascra in Boeotia, where his father had settled after leaving Cyme in Aeolis. His Theogony describes the origins of the gods and the world, and his Works and Days gives advice on farming, work and justice. With Homer he was regarded by the Greeks as a founder of their poetry.
