Sfax
Sfax is a port city on the Gulf of Gabès in eastern Tunisia and the country's second-largest city. It grew in the Aghlabid period, when its walls and Great Mosque were built in the 9th century. The Normans of Sicily held it from 1148 until a revolt in 1156. It is a major centre of olive oil production, fishing and trade.
