Sosso Empire
The Sosso Empire was a West African state, also known as the kingdom of Kaniaga, that rose as Ghana declined. Under Sumanguru Kanté it dominated the region until its defeat by Sundiata Keita at the Battle of Kirina, which led to the rise of the Mali Empire. Accounts of the Ghana Empire note it subjugated Wagadou.
