Kaniaga

Kaniaga was a region in the western Sahel that was home to the Sosso kingdom, once a vassal of Ghana. Around 1140 the Sosso began subjugating Wagadou, the heartland of Ghana. Its rise was part of the decline of the Ghana Empire before Sundiata Keita's victories brought the region under the Mali Empire.
