Souq Ukaz
Souq Ukaz was the most famous annual fair of pre-Islamic Arabia, held during the sacred months near Ta'if, south-east of Mecca. Besides trade, it hosted poetry contests among the tribes, where celebrated odes were recited. Abandoned in the 8th century, it was revived as a cultural festival in Saudi Arabia in 2007.
