Štip
Štip is a city in the eastern part of North Macedonia, on the Bregalnica River. In antiquity, as Astibos, it was one of the centres of the kingdom of Paeonia, and it later lay on the Roman road through the region. It was held in turn by Byzantium, Bulgaria and Serbia before passing to the Ottomans in the late 14th century, and is now a regional centre of the textile industry.
