Sukhra

d. c. 493 · 5th century · Also known as Zarmihr

Sukhra, also called Zarmihr, was a Sasanian nobleman of the House of Karen who dominated the Iranian court in the 480s. After King Peroz I was killed by the Hephthalites in 484, he restored order, raised Peroz's brother Balash and then Kavad I to the throne and governed as chief minister. Kavad, resenting his power, had him put to death around 493 with the help of Shapur of the House of Mihran.
