Hephthalites
The Hephthalites were a people of Central Asia who built a powerful state in Bactria and neighbouring regions in the fifth and sixth centuries CE. They threatened the Sasanian Empire's north-eastern frontier. Around 557 CE an alliance of the Sasanians and the rising Gokturk Empire destroyed their empire, and the Gokturks expanded into former Hephthalite lands.
