Tausug

Also known as Tausug people, Suluk

The Tausug are a Muslim people of the Sulu archipelago in the southern Philippines, with communities also in Sabah and other parts of Mindanao. Their name means people of the current. They formed the core of the Sulu Sultanate, whose society was organised around the sultan and hereditary datus, and they long resisted Spanish and American rule.
