Also known as Tayyi, Banu Tayy

The Tayy are a large Arab tribe originating in the mountains of Aja and Salma in northern Arabia. They moved into Syria and Iraq in early Islamic times, and the poet Hatim al-Tai was one of them. In the 10th and 11th centuries their Jarrahid chiefs dominated Palestine, and later the Al Fadl branch led the Bedouin of Syria.
