Tintoretto

1518–1594 · 16th century · Also known as Jacopo Robusti

Tintoretto was a Venetian painter of the late Renaissance, famed for his speed, dramatic lighting and bold perspective. His greatest cycle fills the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, and his Paradise in the Doge's Palace is among the largest paintings on canvas. With Titian and Paolo Veronese he dominated Venetian painting in the 16th century.
