Tír Eoghain

Also known as Tir Eoghain

Tír Eoghain, 'Eogan's land', was the Gaelic kingdom of the O'Neills in mid-Ulster, the core of modern County Tyrone. Its kings descended from the Cenél nEógain branch of the northern Uí Néill and became the most powerful Gaelic rulers in late medieval Ireland. Its last ruler, Hugh O'Neill, led the Nine Years' War against the English crown.
