Toompea
Toompea is a limestone hill in the centre of Tallinn, Estonia, rising above the medieval Lower Town. An Estonian stronghold stood there before the Danish conquest of 1219, when Valdemar II built a castle on it. It remained the seat of the rulers of the region under the Danes, the Teutonic Order, Sweden and Russia, and Toompea Castle now houses the Riigikogu, Estonia's parliament.
