Tottori
Tottori is a city on the Sea of Japan coast of western Honshu and the capital of Tottori Prefecture. Its castle on Mount Kyusho was the scene of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's siege of 1581, in which he starved the garrison into surrender. From 1617 it was the seat of the Ikeda lords, whose Tottori domain ruled Inaba and Hoki until 1871. The city is known for the large sand dunes nearby.
