Town Musicians of Bremen

1819 · 19th century

The Town Musicians of Bremen is a German folk tale published by the Brothers Grimm in 1819. It tells of a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster who, too old to be useful to their masters, set out for Bremen to become musicians and on the way drive robbers from a house. A bronze statue of the four animals by Gerhard Marcks stands beside Bremen's town hall.
