Bremerhaven
Bremerhaven is a port city at the mouth of the Weser on the North Sea, an exclave of the German state of Bremen. It was founded in 1827 by Bremen's mayor Johann Smidt on land bought from Hanover, because silting of the Weser kept large ships from reaching Bremen. It became a major emigration port to America and remains one of Germany's chief container and car-shipping ports.
