Tuscarora people

Also known as Tuscarora Nation

The Tuscarora are an Iroquoian people originally from the coastal plain of North Carolina. After their defeat by colonists in the Tuscarora War of 1711–1713, most moved north and around 1722 were adopted into the Iroquois Confederacy under Oneida sponsorship, which then became the Six Nations. Many supported the Americans in the Revolution, and today they live on the Tuscarora Reservation near Niagara Falls and at Six Nations of the Grand River.
